The Old Shades was one of the highlights of our first day in London! We were looking for an authentic British pub experience, and it absolutely delivered. The beer selection was excellent, with great local ales and everything served perfectly. The atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for—classic, welcoming, and full of character. The service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home, even as first-time visitors. If you're looking for a true London pub with great beer, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere, don't miss The Old Shades. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in London!
Reserved a table to watch England play their first game of the World Cup. Food was fantastic, lamb chop and fish n chips highly exceeded expectations! Tracey had an exceptional espresso martini and Mikey were cheeky and fun! Becks the manger was attentive and courteous. They all made us laugh and made us very happy to be there! Proper English pub that gave us an experience… not just a meal!
We walked in and Beks, the owner, greeted us as if we were visiting family. Or royalty. Sat us at a perfect table across from the bar and made us feel very welcome. After a cask ale, he put his expert mixology talents to work and brought us the finest Espresso Martinis we have ever had. The food was fresh and delicious. It was the type of meal that you want to continue eating even though you are full. The prawn cocktail, thick bread and roasted chicken were just scrumptious. Even though it got progressively busier, Beks did not fail to continue our conversation. We were slow to leave. And shall return. Because it was just the experience you want when on vacation.
Absolutely delicious! This was my first time trying a Sunday roast in London, and I was very impressed. The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent as well—crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. The service was fantastic, and the staff member who served us was cheerful, friendly, and full of positive energy, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I had a wonderful meal and would definitely recommend this place! And Also BEKS is so nice person. Thanks to him, I'm really enjoying the meals!!
We had an amazing experience at The Old Shades in London. We were given excellent beer recommendations, as well as tasty food suggestions. The feta salad and scotch egg were fantastic. The sticky toffee pudding was top notch. Mike and Beks made us feel right at home, they couldn’t have been more welcoming. This is what you think of when you imagine a cozy English pub. Do yourself a favor and visit The Old Shades and tell Mike and Beks that Sue and Ken say hello!
