ToursCulture & HistoryArt & MuseumsArchitectureHistory & HeritageFood & DrinksMedium-risk activities

Experience one of the very few guided walking tours in London that combines both royal London (Westminster) and ancient London (The City). St. Paul's Cathedral admission is also included, along with a lovely traditional British pub lunch.

Highlights

  • Witness the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony
  • Walk towards Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the Queen of England
  • Visit London's only Roman amphitheater, as well as the historic Guildhall
  • Walk past the historic Bank of England, the Royal Exchange, and Mansion House

Description

Your tour begins at the front steps of St Martin-in-the-Fields Church. From there you will stroll through London’s most famous piazza, Trafalgar Square, admiring Nelson’s Column. You will then walk down the dramatic mall which leads to Buckingham Palace, and on which many royal processions take place. You will stop briefly at Henry VII’s St James’s Palace, before watching the Changing of The Guard near Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s official residence in London. Afterwards, you will make your way to Horse Guards Parade where the Queen’s Life Guards are on duty 24/7 protecting the royal palaces. You will walk down Whitehall, passing #10 Downing Street (the Prime Minister’s residence), the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. You will then jump into an iconic 'Black Cab', which will take you to a well-deserved traditional English pub for a lovely lunch. Following lunch you will arrive to the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was built by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Here you will be able to spend some time inside the magical Whispering Gallery, where you can see the amazing painted dome up close. Leaving St. Paul's you will begin to explore the City of London, which dates back 2000 years to when the Romans called it 'Londinium'. You will visit London’s only Roman amphitheater as well as the historic Guildhall, before then passing the historic Bank of England. It will be here that you will be able to best experience how the city's skyline is changing, as you observe new buildings such as the Gherkin, the Cheesegrater, and the Walkie-Talkie. Towards the end of your tour you will visit Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, where you can visit the monument which marks where the Great Fire of London began. Finally, you will arrive at the Tower of London, the famous royal fortress where the Queen keeps her Crown Jewels. Your tour ends here, from where you can easily take a taxi, bus, the tube, or a river boat to anywhere in London.
