Kitchen W8
London
Kitchen W8 encompasses a soft, gentle atmosphere thanks its calming, dark silver colour-scheme. Large circular mirrors have been placed on the walls giving the room extra depth, and the darker furnishings add the finishing touch to complete the venue's modern, sophisticated look.
There's a bar which looks cool and classy, is stocked full of all sorts of liquor and spirits, and hundreds of upturned glasses which act as a testimony to the amount of people they serve here - it's a seriously big hit and, with its Michelin Star status, that's no surprise.
However it's not just the look of the place that granted such a reputation; the food is superb as well (but those prices could make you hesitate). From the a la carte starter list, try the crispy hen's egg with pureed artichoke or, for a real fishy opener, the sliced eel and mackerel plate with mustard and lettuce.
Moving on, there's a whole lemon sole caper available, a rib of beef, duck breast, pot-roast Poussin or, for the vegetarians, an exceptional risotto of white onion and thyme with leeks. For the grand finale we suggest sampling the bitter chocolate mousse. It comes with salted caramel ice-cream and honeycomb to combat the initial flavours, causing a not-to-over-complicated taste sensation.
We'd more than happily recommend Kitchen W8 as a place to stop for dinner for a properly romantic evening, not least because of its location, but the end result is unforgettable.
