Best Markets in Greenwich

Local Recommendations from our My Guide London team

Our market history can be traced back to ancient London when market traders supplied goods and livestock to the city. These days the markets are more varied, selling clothes, antiques and vinyls but many still sell luxury food items.

Because the act of 'setting up shop' goes back for hundreds of years in London, visiting one of our markets really gives you a sense of genuine London. Not only can you purchase great quality food like fish at Billingsgate or flowers at Colmbia Road or even all sorts of unique clothing from Camden's market, but the people behind the stalls are what we'd call 'proper Londoners'. They're the guys shouting 'a pound for a pound' in, traditionally, thick Cockney accents and will generally treat people with respect and good-natured humour. Embrace our markets, even if the scaffold stalls and tarpaulin roofs look a little shabby, it's all proper good stuff.
