Had a nice Sunday lunch at the restaurant here. The beef was very nicely cooked for the roast, would have liked a bit more of it. The potatoes were a little under crispy, but other than that was a lovely meal. The desserts were also really good!!
Enjoyed a Sunday roast here yesterday. Absolutely superb. This is a genuine gastropub where the quality of produce matters. The only criticism I have is the portions are too generous so bring your appetite. We were served by Joe who is the owner and Georgie. His business partner is the chef so no surprises that both front and back of house are first class. Haven’t visited for some time but the menu is still really well considered - you are guaranteed to find interesting dishes that really differentiate this place from the other pubs that call themselves ‘gastro’. This place really is the real deal. I will be back!!
Nice pub, but the Sunday Roast was just ok. The veggie option was actually quite good (truffled potato wellington), but the lamb roast was average, along with the gravy and sides. Nicely cooked roast potatoes, but tasted like they had been sat out for some time. The service was also quite slow, took 45 mins to get our food. Given the price (33 pounds) and hype, I would expect better.
Had friends in town so decided to take them to the Bull and Last after hearing great reviews. Food and service were both exceptional. Thoroughly deserving of their place on the Michelin guide. Had beef tartare to start and onglet for main. The beef (which is apparently sourced from the owners farm) was top quality. Looking forward to coming back.
Really wonderful place - beautifully decorated, lovely little touches, perfect location (especially for a morning swim in the Lido) and comfortable bed. Felt really safe here as a woman on my own. Will definitely be back!
