KOKO
London
KOKO on Camden High Street has gone under a serious transformation over the years. What was once a regular haunt for theatregoers, this trendy venue now plays host to up-and-coming indie bands and more famous faces in music; Madonna, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Prince have all played special one-off gigs here.
And it’s easy to see why. With a capacity of around 1,500, KOKO retains its personable atmosphere and theatrical characteristics whilst still appealing to those looking for an arena-style atmosphere. NME chose this venue to host its weekly new band showcase every Friday, and Saturday is usually dedicated to more dance-orientated events. During the week, you’ll find everything from intimate folk sessions to hard-hitting techno and electro acts.
Although most of the action can be found downstairs in the ‘pit’, take a stroll upstairs for a more chilled viewpoint; the sound and ambiance will stay the same wherever you decide to enjoy your favourite bands from.
Opening times:
Sunday - Thursday, 7pm - 11pm.
Friday, 6.30pm - 4am.
Saturday, 9pm - late.
