lI went out for dinner last night with a friend who is visiting London and whom I hadn't seen in years. We had a wonderful experience, and Raul, our server, was fantastic. Since the weather was so nice, we decided to sit outside, and it was the perfect choice. The ambiance was lovely, making it easy to enjoy a great conversation. The food was fresh and delicious. I especially loved the salmon, toro-taku temaki, and akami temaki. Highly recommend!
It’s a lovely place. Our server did an amazing job explaining how they prepare some dishes their own methods. Everything we had was fabulous from the edamame, miso mushroom soup, sashimi, caviar. Our table tried a variety of Temaki rolls - all incredible. We also had the fish of the day - a melt in my mouth black cod. And we tried the beef Gohan - which was absolutely delicious. They have a great variety of craft cocktails. Again service was AMAZING. Quite possible our best of many fabulous meals in London.
🐟 Three Types of Fish I knew this Endo Group spot offers great value, but the sashimi portions are incredibly generous — easily double the thickness you’d expect elsewhere! 🐂 Beef Gohan A hearty iron-pot take on a donburi, easily enough for four servings. Slow-braised beef mixed with egg yolk, shiso leaves and secret sauce — the herb’s aroma elevates both the meat and savoury sauce perfectly. 🪸 Seaweed Salad Made with a mix of fresh seaweed varieties. Toasted almonds add a lovely nutty sweetness that complements the crisp texture — absolutely delicious. 🍣 Nigiri The otoro nigiri comes in such a luxuriously thick slice! The marbling is beautiful, and carefully trimmed for an ultra-smooth bite. The shima-aji is rich and fatty — it’s peak season right now, and hard to find in London, so don’t miss it. 🍣 Temaki Otoro handroll paired with sweetcorn, which brings out the fish’s natural sweetness even more. 🍵 Matcha Mille Crepe A pleasantly bitter matcha finish that cuts through all the richness perfectly. 🍨 Miso Ice Cream Deep, savoury miso flavour, served with crispy rice crackers — best enjoyed straight from the hand!
We had dinner at Sumi this evening, and it was an exceptional experience from beginning to end. Although the restaurant was busy, we were seated immediately without needing our reservation. The service was impressively efficient, with a great atmosphere and a team that worked seamlessly together. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The aubergine was absolutely amazing, the soup was delicious, and the salad was one of the best we’ve ever had. Every bite was a pleasure, and the quality of the food was truly on another level. A special thank you to Akane, who made our evening even more memorable. She was incredibly warm, kind, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. She was always nearby to check if we needed anything, never kept us waiting, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Her professionalism and lovely personality made a real difference to our dining experience. The entire team deserves recognition for their excellent service. Everything was smooth, organised, and delivered with a smile. Sumi truly deserves a 10 out of 10. It was worth every penny, and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you to everyone at Sumi, especially Akane, for giving us such a wonderful evening. Highly recommended!
I had such an incredible dinner here with a couple of friends back in January, and I still can’t stop thinking about it! The food was absolutely outstanding, every single dish was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. I’m a huge sushi lover, and honestly, this is easily one of the best places I’ve ever been to. It completely exceeded my expectations! Sadly I don’t live in London, but I already know that the next time I’m back, this place will be at the very top of my list. I can’t wait to come back! The service was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and the cosy atmosphere makes the whole experience even more special. It’s quite a small restaurant, so definitely book in advance. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but it’s 100% worth it for the quality you get. An unforgettable experience!
