Description
Day 1: Depart London and travel through the historic kingdom of Wessex to Winchester, known for its cathedral and Norman Great Hall. Visit the standing stone circle of Stonehenge before continuing to Exeter, the Roman city, where you will stay for two nights.
Day 2: Explore Dartmoor’s wilderness, the ancient Clapper Bridge at Postbridge, and the market town of Tavistock. Return to Exeter to visit its underground passages, ancient walls, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and the 12th-century Norman Cathedral.
Day 3: Travel west to Boscastle, an Elizabethan fishing village, to enjoy a cream tea and visit the Museum of Witchcraft. Visit Tintagel and its castle ruins, linked to King Arthur’s legend. After lunch, continue to Port Isaac, known from the Doc Martin series, before arriving in Falmouth for a two-night stay.
Day 4: Visit Land’s End and St Michael’s Mount. See the Minack Theatre built into cliffs, and Porthcurno beach managed by the National Trust. Follow the Cornish tin mining heritage route, a Poldark filming location, ending the day in St Ives with its many art galleries. Return to Falmouth for the night.
Day 5: Leave Cornwall via Bodmin Moor, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Visit Glastonbury Abbey ruins and Glastonbury Tor before returning to London.
