Description
St Paul’s Cathedral is both a functioning Anglican cathedral and a major London sightseeing destination. It features touchscreen multimedia guides that combine film, photography, and detailed commentary to enhance your visit.
Guided tours of the cathedral floor and crypt are available four times daily at no extra cost. These 60-minute tours cover the cathedral’s art, history, and religious significance. Short introductory talks are also offered throughout the day, all on a first-come, first-served basis; registration is required upon arrival.
The cathedral interior is illuminated by natural light and decorated with mosaics and paintings. Visitors can explore ground floor chapels and, for those able, climb 257 steps to the Whispering Gallery to experience its unique acoustics. Continuing upwards, 119 steps lead to the Stone Gallery and a further 152 steps to the Golden Gallery, where uninterrupted panoramic views of London await. Entrance to the Golden Gallery is subject to availability and capacity controls.
The crypt houses tombs and memorials to notable Britons including Lord Admiral Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.
