You order at the bar and they bring you the food. Cannot beat the atmosphere - lots of stuff going on nearby in the courtyards and upstairs by the shops. The fish was very good, crispy and not dried out. These were also proper chips. Good tartare sauce too. Would recommend.
Had the steak and fish and chips. Both were nice portions and very filling. The food was fresh and crisp. Lightly fried fish and medium rare steak. Washed it down with a pint of beer. They have a large selection of drafts on tap for you. Service staff are nice and welcoming. We had a great meal and time. This location has multiple floors and and outdoor eating area as well. I say check it out.
Came here for dinner after arriving in London for the first time. What a very warm and delicious welcome. Chris and the waitresses went above and beyond with their hospitality. We had the sausage and mash and fish and chips. Both amazing. We also got both types of sticky toffee pudding. Would order any of those dishes again. The sausage and mash was my favorite though.
There's a particular ritual we've settled into after a mid week night around Soho — finishing up with a nightcap at the Punch & Judy. The balcony is the reason. On a good evening, with a drink in hand looking out over the Piazza, you get this rare sense of being at the actual centre of London - not just near it. The street performers have usually packed up by then, the cobbles quieter, and it feels weirdly intimate for a pub that's been standing since 1787. Inside it's properly multi-layered: the gallery bar upstairs with those famous views, a sunken courtyard, and a cellar bar down below with vaulted brick arches that lend themselves nicely to the later hours. It has that particular London pub magic where it works equally well as a lively mid-evening stop or a wind-down nightcap spot, depending on what you need. Yes, it pulls tourists - it's Covent Garden, so that's the deal. And peak weekend afternoons can feel a bit relentless. But catch it on a mild evening when you can grab a balcony spot and watch the square settle into night? That's when it earns its reputation.
Had a great meal at the Punch & Judy pub in Covent Garden with our daughter Hannah. We started with the battered halloumi, then all had the steak and ale pies, along with some excellent beer – everything was hot, hearty and really tasty. Lovely pub atmosphere and a perfect spot to relax together in the middle of Covent Garden.
