Really nice pub set across multiple floors. The front of the ground floor and outside areas are definitely more for casual drinking. We had a dinner reservation on the first floor, which was much quieter despite how busy it was at the bar downstairs. The menu has a blend of pub classics and some modern options. Your standard fish and chips, steak, and a burger are all available. We really enjoyed the tortelloni starter, which I would highly recommend. For my main, I had lamb chops. The meat was undeniably good, but my only criticism is that the summer greens were tough to eat and I couldn’t finish them. The Jersey Royal potatoes with saffron aioli were really good, and I would recommend those as well. I did not have dessert, but if I return, I would definitely save space for it. Their dessert menu looked good and I’m sad I had to skip it. Overall, my only recommendations for The Walmer Castle is to revisit some of the veg pairings with the entrees and to work on a longer term solution for air conditioning in the summer. It’s a beautiful pub and you can tell they care about the food and service they provide, but it would not be tolerable here on a hot day.

"I visited last month and wasn’t particularly impressed, but what a massive turnaround! Everything has been majorly improved. The food was amazing, the service was divine, and the atmosphere was perfect. I suspect there might be a new chef in the kitchen because the dishes were incredibly flavorful this time. Well done—I’ll definitely be back!"

The best local pub in my area. Always feel at home since day one. Don't miss the food here, they're amazing! I had seasonal soup and the duck confit, all amazing. The cocktails and beers are always great as well. The service is nice and warm too.

Lovely spot in Notting Hill for a drink or a delicious meal. I came for a work event to the restaurant section upstairs and had such a nice time. The vibe is very chill and cosy, and the staff are all very attentive and friendly. Had some cocktails downstairs in the bar area too, which were great. Would definitely return.

Went to The Walmer Castle in Notting Hill for my first-ever Sunday roast, and it was honestly everything I could have hoped for! The inside is super cute and cozy, exactly the vibe you want for a relaxing Sunday dinner. The service was great, and we started by sharing a bottle of wine. For our meal, we both went with the Devon Chicken Breast. The roasts came with all the classic sides: Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage, parsnips, and gravy, everything perfectly cooked and full of flavor. If you’re looking for a cozy, authentic Sunday roast experience in Notting Hill, I’d definitely recommend this spot!
