Description
Initially built around canals at the beginning of the 19th century and home to many people involved in building the railway networks, Camden was catapulted into 1960s counterculture consciousness by Pink Floyd's concert at the Roundhouse. Camden Town took over from Soho as London's bohemian centre and has evolved into a bohemian, artistic, and musical centre of culture since the 1980s. Camden is known for its world-famous independent markets, street art scene, and, of course, Amy Winehouse. Highlights: Street Art Electric Ballroom (Led Zeppelin) Arlington House (George Orwell) The Roundhouse (Pink Floyd) Stables Markets (The Clash/Pulp/The Libertines) Hawley Arms (Amy Winehouse) Camden Markets Dingwalls (The Sex Pistols) Regent's Canal What Else You Should Know - It's a walking tour, but there's not a lot of distance involved.
