Highlights

  • Enjoy a one-way journey on London’s scheduled River Bus

  • Learn about London’s bridges and their role in the city's development
  • Use a digital map with audio commentary and walking directions
  • Pause for photographs, refreshments, or independent exploration

Description

Begin at the departure pier and board the scheduled River Bus to the arrival pier. The ticket covers one journey in this direction only. The River Bus is a shared public service rather than a private charter, and departure times may change because of the operator’s timetable, river conditions, or service disruption.

After disembarking at the arrival pier, open the digital walking route on your smartphone. The route begins at the walking start point and follows a confirmed sequence of bridges and waterfront locations.

At each stop, listen to the audio commentary and follow the directions on the digital map. The commentary explains bridge construction, river transport, trade, embankment development, engineering, or the relationship between the Thames and London’s growth.

The walk is self-guided. You can pause the route, replay sections, take photographs, stop for food or drink, and continue when convenient. No guide accompanies the group, and the walk does not have a fixed group departure time.

The walking route covers approximately 3 miles and normally takes 1.5 hours without long personal stops. Allow additional time for the River Bus journey, waiting at the pier, boarding, photographs, and breaks. The digital route ends at the final location. No return River Bus journey or onward transport is included unless specifically stated in the selected option.
