A staple on the Camden gig scene, Barfly is one of the most reliably entertaining venues in town. Like the neighbouring Dublin Castle, despite its tiny stage and upstairs capacity it's seen some massive bands playing tiny gigs passing through its doors. Downstairs has a lively bar with booths and high-perched tables, and a dancefloor for indie kids to mingle and party. Upstairs, meanwhile, is another bar overlooking a stage and floor. Bands are firmly in the rock and indie categories and all points in between - metal, hardcore, punk and pop-rock we've all seen here. The venue is a great place to see up-and-coming bands , unsigned bands. Some will be a good, some bad, some will absolutely blow you away. At weekends it turns into a packed sweatbox, depending on who's the bill. If you're after a civilised gigging experience, this is not the place for it. If you're after intensity, all-out thrills and one of the living, breathing facets of the London music scene, this is it.
