Famous Department Stores
The third in a mighty triumvirate of London department stores (with Liberty snapping at their heels), Harvey Nichols (Harvey Nicks to everyone else) is the sleeker, less hectic cousin to its rivals. The store itself is beautiful, with window displays rivalling anything at a carefully-curated modern art gallery, and its “less-is-more” vibe makes it feel less chaotic and more luxurious.
We won’t lie – unless it’s sale time, you’ll need a fair amount of disposable cash to shop here. But if you’ve got that covered, it’s high-end heaven, with weighty collections of US Designers like Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan dicing with local London upstarts like Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou and compulsory collections from the Italian and French houses. It is a fashionista’s dream, just off the golden mile of boutiques that is Sloane Street.
The food hall is also excellent, and a mid-afternoon glass of champagne in the chic fifth-floor bar is a very civilised and luxurious part of the Harvey Nicks experience.
Opening hours: Monday - Saturday: 10:00 - 20:00, Sunday: 11:30 - 18:00.
