Covent Garden Market
London
A lot of the older generation of Londoners will remember Covent Garden as the largest fruit and vegetable market in the capital – a lot has changed since this market began in the 1600’s and the fruit and vegetable stalls that line the piazza have since been transformed into a popular shopping centre and a Mecca for arts, crafts and theatre, making this one of London’s premier tourist attractions.
It’s a perfect day out for the whole family! Known for its zany public street theatre, there is always some kind of performer or crowd pleaser around the piazza – sure to entertain the kids…and adults alike. If you’re into the more sophisticated kind of street entertainment then why not grab a drink and relax in the courtyard where you’re bound to find a talented opera singer or three, who will capture your heart and soul with their many soothing tunes.
Shoppers will find an interesting mix of unique things to buy and take home. The Apple Market and the Jubilee Hall Market (both within the Covent Garden Market) both sell an unusual and inspired range of antiques, handicrafts, china, jewelry, clothing and gifts.
If you’re tired of all the market shopping and street side entertainment, escape to one of the many delightful restaurants, cafes or pubs that the Covent Garden area itself has to offer.
The market is open from Monday - Saturday, 10:00 – 20:00 and on Sundays from 11:00 – 18:00.
So, if you’re into family entertainment and are fond of rummaging through eclectic shops – this is a perfect day out for you and your family.
