Bike Tours
Designed for the English speaking traveller, Fat Tire Tours started in Paris and has gradually expanded its facilities to London, Berlin and Barcelona. They are one of the largest independent bicycle tour companies within Europe and also offer walking and segway tours.
There are two different bicycle tours to choose from:-
Royal London Tour
When: Start everyday at 11am.
Where: Meet outside the Queensway Tube Station 15 minutes before.
How long: Lasts for 4 hours.
Price: Students: £18, Adults: £20.
The knowledgeable guides are at hand to tell you the ins and outs of the fascinating and often quite quirky tales behind the amazing city. The bikes have extra comfy seats so no sore bottoms and the route you take is smooth and simple so you've no need to worry about your fitness levels. Half way round you'll stop off at a traditional English pub for a spot of food (not included in the price) so you can have a rest and get to know your fellow cyclists. A few of the highlights of the trip include Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Big Ben.
Once you have booked the tour, you have 12 months to reschedule it should you choose to.
River Thames Bike Tour
When: Start everyday at 10.30am.
Where: Meet at exit 2 Waterloo Tube Station fifteen minutes before.
How long: Lasts for five hours.
Price: £30.
In this tour you'll cycle both banks of the River Thames to get the greatest view of all the sites. The animated guides tell you the tales of the city from past to present, including the great plagues, fire and war, up to today's modern civilization and commerce. The cycling is slightly more advanced than the Royal Tour, and although not strenuous, it can only accommodate for fully competent cyclists over 5ft tall, as a large amount of the cycling is on roads. Tour highlights include the London Eye, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, The Tower of London, and after seeing all the sites, you'll cruise back to central London on the Thames Clipper Boat.
Booking is advisable especially for the River Thames tour, which can be done by phone or on the website.
