The Mall
London
The Mall refers to the grand stretch of road that begins at Buckingham Palace and carries on to Admiralty Arch and Trafalgar Square.
The iconic road was created as a ceremonial route in the early 20th century and has since been the centre of many British celebrations. Most recently millions of people lined The Mall for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Visiting heads of state are always escorted along The Mall, with the street decorated with Union Flags alongside the flag of the visiting country. It really is quite an impressive road to walk along.
The ground is also coloured red to create the visual of a giant red carpet leading up to Buckingham Palace.
