The Duke's Head
London
Overlooking the Thames, the Duke's Head is a great pub to go to when the sun's out and enjoy a few drinks on the banks of the river with friends. It's a Young's pub which means they serve great tasting ales from the Young's brewery - golden, blonde and bitter all make for excellent choices, whatever the weather and occasion.
As far as food goes, it too is wide with choice and all heartily British: steaks, sharing platters, smoked salmon and bar snacks abound, allowing you to really get stuck in. And there's certainly no arguments for seating space. Apart from the bar and the terrace both situated on the ground floor, there's the Wolsey Room upstairs. It holds 30 guests and makes for the perfect wedding reception area or other private function; the views from the upstairs windows are an extremely pleasant bonus.
For a really impressive marriage of food, drink and location, the Duke's Head is a clear winner. Socio-holics and those after a real taste of London and Britain as a whole have to get themselves down to this place.
Opening times: Monday – Thursday 12:00 – 24:00, Friday & Saturday: 12:00 – 01:00, Sunday 12:00 – 22:30
