The Half Moon
London
A music venue beaming with history; acts such as the Rolling Stones, Kate Bush's debut performance, and U2's first sell out gig all took place here at the Half Moon in Putney. Since the doors first opened in 1963 live music has decorated the walls in sweat and success, from global superstars and emerging unsigned acts. This piece of Putney magic is one of the longest serving music venues in the capital that has successfully adapted with time to maintain its prolific reputation. Lice music is showcased 7 days a week, and overflows into the officially twinned Elgin Music pub and food house up in Notting Hill to further promote unsigned acts.
The design of the venue is divided in two; the music room, and a traditional English pub for all your refreshments. The pub recognises that both local and global crowds are attracted here, and this is reflected in the drinks menu in particular. The bar is fully stocked with local traditional ales including Sambrooks, Adnams, and Purity, and an imported list arrives from Sierra, Nevada, and Belgium. Local Sipsmith's Gin is sourced from down the road in Ravenscourt Park, and their very own wine connoisseur hand picks a selection of bottles which are regularly updated to suit each season.
The attention to detail continues into the kitchen, where seasonal menus promote local produce, for an appetising gastronomic restaurant experience. If you arrive early there is time for a two course meal, or for a quick bite, pub classics including sandwiches and gourmet burgers go down a treat. Freshly made popcorn is a speciality here than undoubtedly out-rivals a stale packet of peanuts or your standard bag of crisps. The Half Moon pub is ideal for settling your nerves before witnessing an epic session in the music room.
