The Hoxton Street and Monsters Supplies have everything you need to keep your little monster entertained, from cubed earwax to fang floss. But Hoxton Monster Supplies is more than that. The shop is unique, as it is a front for the charity Minstry of Stories, set up by author Nick Hornby to inspire and coach children to read and write well. Past patrons of the Ministry of Stories have included Stephen Fry, Colin Firth and Lucy Macnab.
Many of the items sold in Monster Supplies revolve around stories written by children and resident authors and illustrators in these workshops. Tins full of sweets with names such as 'Night Terrors' promise the eater to 'vanquish all dreams of happiness' and contain the story 'Night Terrors' by Eoin Cofler. Although some of the items may be on the expensive side, they are excellent gifts for someone who has everything and all the profit helps to run the charity.
