The 39 Steps
London
A theatrical tour de force is how The 39 Steps is described by reviewers taken aback by the strength of the storyline, the drama recreated on stage and the brilliance of its leading performers.
The script of The 39 Steps was written by John Buchan who famously made it to the big screen via the watchful eye and carefully guiding hand of Alfred Hitchcock in 1935. Now adapted for London's West End, The 39 Steps is a spell-binding roller-coaster of a thriller that delivers laughs and spills a minute. There is nothing missing from the film version on stage, with four actors asked to play a minimum of 139 roles while re-enacting bi-plane crashes, a Flying Scotsman train chase and a death-defying finale.
