London Discovery Tours
If you're a fan of ghost stories and tales of the supernatural then London Discovery Tours is perfect. The tours are led by ghost star Richard Jones, who has spent years researching the ghoulish history of London and has appeared on numerous TV programmes regaling tales of the dead. The two most popular tours at Discovery are the Jack the Ripper Tour and the Ghost Walk.
Jack the Ripper Tour:
On the Jack the Ripper Tour guests head out into the streets of London every night at 7pm for around two hours. Stepping back in time to the polluted and gas lit back alleys of East London in 1888, visitors will witness the sinister spots where serial killer Jack the Ripper let loose. Following his journey through London and the scenes of many of his murders, the tour is accompanied by copies of original photos taken on crime scene and of some of his victims. It is advised to meet 15 minutes before the tour outside exit 4 of Aldgate East underground station.
The Ghost Walk allows you to explore haunted London with specialist ghost guide Richard Jones. He is up to date with all the latest paranormal activities in London and will guide the tours to places that are renowned for being haunted. With the opportunity to explore the creepy graveyards and alleyways in the dark and hidden parts of the city, you'll rub shoulders with the Kings and Queens, the famous and the long forgotten of historical London. Tours happen on Tuesdays and Fridays at 7pm and Saturday at 7.30pm, lasting for between one and a half and two hours. It is advised to meet 15 minutes before the tour starts in front of St Paul's cathedral at the white Queen Anne statue.
Both Jack the Ripper and Ghost Tour cost £8 per person.
London Discovery Tours offer a number of alternative tours that require a group booking of 20 people to run. Check the website to see full availability, with tours such as London film walks, Dickens walks, Sherlock Holmes walk or Shakespeare's London.
