London Bridge Experience and London Tombs
London
In the same vicinity and equally as gruesome and scary as the London Dungeon, is the London Bridge Experience. Opened relatively recently in 2008, the London Bridge Experience in Tooley Street is another attraction that will not only give you the fright of your life, but will allow you to relive this city's macabre past by looking at its violent, bloody history and morbidly interesting inhabitants.
Theatrical in nature, and with its development costing in the millions, one is guaranteed to be scared witless by the latest technologies and flashy special effects. Actors will jump out of the shadows in the themed areas which take you back to the influence of the Romans, Vikings and the medieval inhabitants of London Bridge.
After you have been sufficiently petrified here, visitors move on to the award-winning London Tombs, set in a former plague pit, in which victims of the plague would have been casually disposed of. Interestingly, the London Bridge Experience made the news during its construction when builders dug up skeletons with holes in the skulls- which may indicate how their heads had been put on spikes, perhaps as a warning to others...
Your visit inside should take around an hour and fifteen minutes, but you may decide to stay for a calming hot drink at their café or a walk around the gift shop. If you travel to London on National Rail, be sure to investigate the London 2for1 offer. Tickets may also be purchased online.
