First, the good – the gardens are located on the top floor of an office and retail block on a nocturnally barren stretch of Kensington High Street and are, unsurprisingly, beautiful. Some considerable effort has gone into making the outdoor spaces here a visual feast and for wow factor, it scores highly.

There are the famous flamingos that, should you be fortunate enough, you may be able to approach. And the crowd is a gorgeous one – a cross section of West London upper-class and professional talent, from bankers and models to glamour girls and those watching it all play out. It’s an intoxicating people watching opportunity, to say the least.

There are few experiences in the capital as casually glamorous as sipping one of the many delicious cocktails on offer with friends outdoors at the Roof Gardens.

The rarity of the experience means most will justifiably make the effort at least once during their time in London, and would be well rewarded with a rich tapestry of memories and sights only a night in chichi West London can bequeath.
