Mango Tree
London
Mango Tree's location couldn't be better suited for tourists looking for a break from camera-snapping and photo posing - it's pretty much plonked in Buckingham Palace's back garden.
Inside it's neatly organised with slender rows of small, dark-wood four-seater tables both standing freely and facing wall-mounted, cushioned benches.
The clientele consists mostly of the workers from nearby offices, couples and, of course, droves of tourists standing proud outside the gates of the neighbouring Palace.
In terms of food, it's all classic South-East Asian fare with a strong emphasis on Thai cuisine. The restaurant provides simplicity and quality all rolled into one, combined with the freshest ingredients, spread across a seriously vast menu. Highlights include spiced fishcakes; a host of currys including Thai Green and Red curry and grilled options such as duck, pork belly and sea bass fillet.
The Mango Tree is lively when busy thanks to its lengthy size, so it's not ideal for a romantic night out. Take a group of friends - and a wad of cash - and have yourself a right royal good time.
