Eating al fresco can be a little tricky in London, but at the Rainforest Café you can dine in the tropics every day of the year!
The popular restaurant was has been endorsed and frequented by stars such as the Beckhams, the Blairs and Madonna. Inspired by restaurateur Steven Schussler's trip to the Amazon, The Rainforest Café is fully loaded with special effects that recreate the feral and luscious forest; the walls and ceilings are covered in foliage and rocks with mechanical butterflies and birds whose wings move and eyes blink.
You can dine under the watchful eye of two towering elephants, a prying jaguar or a group of gorillas roaming their mountain. You may even be joined by the restaurant's colourful mascot ChaCha, the red eyed tree frog! With a playful cacophony of jungle noises, your culinary soundtrack will include the cackle of a monkey, birdsong and rainfall. Every 29 minutes the restaurant experiences a storm, with thunderclaps and lightning flashes.
The food at the Rainforest Café is American with an international twist. You can try a 'Safari Soup', 'Rasta Pasta' or a 'Leaping Lizard Mezze'. There are quesadillas, burgers, seafood and wings. For dessert, why not try 'Iggy's Ice Cream', a 'Sparkling Volcano' or a sumptuous chocolate brownie?
The mushroom bar comes fully equipped with cocktails, wines, soft drinks and liquors, as well as the very popular smoothies.
Although every day is filled with fun and games, the restaurant is working towards a very serious cause. All the money collected in the wishing ponds, charity auctions and more goes towards supporting environmental causes, like the World Land Trust, Aspinall Foundation and the SCA.
A great place for a child's birthday, group party or corporate event, the restaurant has secluded rooms for private groups, seating on two floors and a retail village. Check out what the restaurant can offer here.
