Clarence House
London
Clarence House is the official residence of HRH The Prince of Wales, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate, if you’re confused). Slightly less showy and imposing – and therefore homelike – than St James Palace, it is the setting for the undertaking of official engagements, and for the family to receive guests from around the world. It also displays much of Queen Elizabeth’s famous art collection and collection of Fabergé eggs.
Owing to the massive logistical apocalypse that is the 2012 Olympics, the House is closed to the public (it is normally open for tours during a couple of months in the summer each year). It will reopen in 2013, but for now you can still catch a glimpse of it if you’re in the area.
