Just a few minutes off the hectic avenue of Shoreditch High Street and Bishopsgate lies this gem of a market – on Sunday mornings this short stretch of tarmac on otherwise discreet Columbia Road transforms into a bustling market of lively tradesmen and shoppers admiring the vast and frankly beautiful display of blooms overflowing and spilling forth onto the street. This is for sure London's prettiest market.

Prices are low and even lower towards the end of the market (early afternoon, about 2pm) – thus, an ideal day might involve a lazy brunch and a wander through the busy market and its dazzling florals and vibrant smells before picking up a bargain and wandering home. You might also choose to make use of the busy but delicious cafes along the Columbia Road before venturing out to take on the market, or picking up a bargain at one of the pottery or perfume shops on the road.

The selection on offer ranges from beautiful garden varieties to verdant shrubbery and ferns, potted plants and exotic varieties that might otherwise be hard to find. Don’t bother with any other flower market.
