For anyone with a love of pop culture - even a casual interest - the Forbidden Planet on Shaftesbury Avenue is a veritable Pandora's Box of delights. We've brought people in here claiming to be adamantly anti-geek, only for them to convulse with excitement upon clapping eyes on the True Blood merchandise. There's something here for everyone, and whether you're into graphic design, mainstream pop culture, television or cinema or yes, comic books and Star Wars, the chances are you'll want to grab a basket and go nuts.
The ground floor is heavy on the figurines and toys, anything from recent movie merchandise - Transformers, Alien, Predator and so forth - while the basement has a very large selection of comics and graphic novels, extended fiction, fantasy, art and graphic design plus a handy DVD and anime collection for latent Japanophiles. The book section is particularly awesome, and contains amazing gift ideas. One of London's most fun stores, and a lifesaver for Christmas and birthday present emergencies.
