LN-CC
London
If you're heading into London looking for something utterly unique, look no further. Opened a few years back and quickly established as one of London's most fashion-forward destinations to rival Dover Street Market, Paris's Colette and New York's Opening Ceremony, LN-CC serves as a cross between a concept store, avant-garde fashion haven and an art gallery, all under one roof.
Call ahead to book a slot at the store in Dalston, turn up at your appointed time and you'll be personally guided through the store's sections by one of the shop's owners / co-curators. The stock is constantly shifting based on the owners' personal tastes, and is thus heavy on fashion-forward staples like Anne Demeulemeester, Junya Watanabe and Dries van Noten along with cult Japanese brands hitherto confined to their own shores. The owner and designer is a former set designer, giving the retail space an art installation feel. Despite the obvious intimidation factor for those of us who aren't fashion diehards or trustafarians, the store operates a no-pressure policy on any tour of the studio.
The store also features a library, a gallery and a sound system designed by industry legend Mickey Boyle. Complementing the store, the website is also as much part of the experience of LN-CC - beautifully designed and simple to use, it deserves as much note as the store itself. Esoteric and niche, yes, but there's nothing in the world like it - and London's got it.
