Somehow for a bar in a relatively hidden spot, well away from the overspill on Chalk Farm road and Camden's markets, Bar 55 tends to be packed almost every evening. And with good reason - it's heavily rock-slanted music policy, retro band posters plastered all over the colourful walls and a comprehensive list of well-priced (and well-made) cocktails is a huge draw for the predominantly gorgeous twentysomething crowd. Add into the mix a dizzying two-for-one policy and excellent happy hour and super-friendly (!) bartenders and it's understandable why it's built up a massive local following.
Weekends see it becoming absolutely packed with revellers, and the intimate crowd of regulars make events like Halloween and New Years an absolute pleasure - we've seen the owner Stuart getting down with the best of them on multiple occasions. The bar attracts everyone from tattooed punk rockers and hipsters, to young professionals and gaggles of girls ordering rounds of mojitos and gawping at the (all-male) bar staff - upstairs has less seating but is no less buzzing. An excellent place to know.
