Kopapa
London
Translated from the native Mauri, Kopapa means 'a gathering; to be crowded; a building in which to store food'. To give you a flavour (pardon the pun) of what Kopapa has to offer, here are some examples from its extensive menu. For quick bites or side dishes, there are plates of buttered broccoli, grilled chorizo or marinated mixed olives.
Elsewhere on the restaurant's extensive dining menu there are West Country beef burgers, Caesar salads and steak sandwiches, or large platters with cheese selections and oat cakes, walnut bread and chutney.
Otherwise, there's risotto with wild mushrooms, smoked garlic and spinach; New Zealand rump of lamb marinated in madras sauce; roasted cod; and sirloin steak with truffle mash, spinach and red win jus.
The desserts are just as exotic with the likes of banana tarte tatin; a plate of homemade biscuits and chocolates; or a warm black rice and coconut pudding.
For breakfast, Kopapa is a great location to either get away from the office or enjoy your day off. The menu changes monthly depending on locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce. A sample of the breakfast offerings always includes a healthy selection of oat muffins, delicious pastries, hot porridge, nutty granola and fruit salads.
Or if you fancy something a bit more filling then opt for the 'Turkish Eggs', two poached eggs with chilli butter and flat bread, or their Chorizo Hash with two fried eggs, rocket salad and chill sauce. There is also a banana toast with French maple bacon and orange vanilla syrup. This is a great start to any day!
Telephone reservations should be made for dinner, lunch and breakfast as it is always extremely popular.
