The Magic Wok is a great spot if you are looking for large portions of tasty Cantonese cuisine. The Magic Wok is often overlooked as it is not a particularly grand or impressive in terms of pavement appeal. However, it does provide a great meal for those who are eating on a budget.
The restaurant has been located within the same two-floor building for decades and is well known in the local area as a good takeaway restaurant. For those who are dining in, reservations are sometimes required because of the small dining space and its popularity. There are also a couple of private rooms for hire if guests want to organise a special occasion.
The menu is extensive and definitely makes up for the less impressive surroundings. The starter platters are huge and are designed for big group feasting. So, if there are less of you, then perhaps it is sensible to go straight for main courses. These feature the classics such as crispy Peking duck, seaweed or spring rolls as well as more alternative suggestions such as the steamed chicken with black fungus and mushrooms.
