We had a nice meal at Notto in Covent Garden. We chose it as it was one of the few places without a queue or needing a reservation, and contrary to these facts being a bad indication, the experience was very pleasant. They had a offer of focaccia, a starter and a main course for £19.95 which was very good value. The focaccia was very tasty. I had the caprese salad which was also very nice, with a main of papardelle with short rib. The meal was very tasty, but my only complaint would be relatively small portions. Good service, a nice modern setting with a nice atmosphere.
I had a lovely lunch there, the pasta was delicious, the dressing salad was gorgeous and the focaccia was excellent. The waiter was very friendly and helped us to choose our meal. I will definitely go back.
This is definitely not an authentic Italian restaurant and rather adapted for UK. Overall very mediocre and underwhelming experience since they serve some Italian classics but poorly executed. We’ve ordered focaccia and that was nice and exactly what you would have expected. We also tried burrata with sun-dried tomato paste and were surprised to have received the tiniest portion of cheese that is closer to mozzarella than burrata (there was no straciatella) for almost £8. With sun-dried tomato paste it was also more like a few splashes of it. The pasta menu is simple and has some classics. The flavour was nice but not rich (my friend was certain she could make a better cacio e pepe sauce at home) and the pasta itself had a weird gooey texture. Also didn’t expect that rigatoni will be so tiny in shape. We didn’t order the dessert as again the list was very basic and we didn’t trust the execution. The wine list was limited and not very original (trying hard not to say basic) and a bit disappointing with how many French wines it featured for such small selection. They have one option for rose which is French - I’ve just been to Italian place the other week that had Italian option for rose so it is possible. The service was really underwhelming and just well, not on a high level. Besides water, no one asked if I would like to order anything while waiting for my friend to arrive, throughout the dinner we barely got anyone asking if we need anything while the waiters were standing in the line next to the station chatting. They would also immediately clean any empty plates which is a bit of faux pas to remove guests plate when the other person is still eating. The place has rather modern decor but not sophisticated, with a playlist of background music I definitely recognise from Spotify so the atmosphere there felt more like a waiting room.
Very nice restaurant! Our waitress was fantastic and we had good service and overall experience. Very reasonable price and I would also 100% recommend the focaccia!!
Nice place, very basic. Considering it presented itself as an Italian restaurant, it had little Italian about it. The menu recalled some types of Italian food but with influences adapted for English customers. The pasta we ordered was overcooked. Prices were average overall. If you want to get an idea of Italian food, it could be a good alternative. For a UK restaurant, let's say decent. 4 stars are more than sufficient.
