This place is absolutely great, I regularly visit due to the fish and chips being so good. they have good variety of fish, plus pies, sausages (both battered and plain), and additions such as pickled onions, pickled eggs, etc. I use the takeaway part and take the food back to the office, however there is also a restaurant with table service and a decent bar. There are various old collectible items dotted around the place, from posters to a jukebox, and many other things. The service is always great in there, the staff are so friendly and very attentive, especially Taisa, who normally serves me. The prices are excellent, especially with the wonderful quality of the meals. My recommendation is that this place is one not to miss and is definitely worth a visit or many visits.

First time trying poppies fish and chips in Camden, London. Our waiter was so funny and friendly. We had a pleasant lunch here and we enjoyed our food. Food came very quickly and our mom got a special-a fish and a chip. We laughed so hard when our waiter (I think his name is hanisa-i can't remember correctly- I apologize) put the plate on our table.

First time trying fish & chips in London. I really liked how crispy it was, and the fish was fresh and nicely meaty, just wish they can be a bit more generous on the tartar sauce portion. It’s on the pricier side, but that’s expected for a restaurant. Service was good.

I'm really not a fish person at all (never have been), but my wife was visiting the UK for the first time, so we figured we had to try proper British fish and chips at least once. Poppies seemed like the perfect iconic choice with its old-school East End charm and 1950s memorabilia everywhere – it really feels like stepping back in time. The staff were genuinely warm and friendly right from the start, which made us feel welcome. We were pleasantly surprised when our food arrived super quickly – everything was out in about 10 minutes, piping hot and freshly cooked. My wife went for the classic fish and chips, which she rated a solid 7/10. The portion was decent, the fish was flaky inside with a nice crispy batter, and the chips were golden and tasty – nothing greasy, which was a plus. I stuck to the apple pie for dessert (with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side). On its own, the pastry was a little on the dry side, but that big dollop of creamy vanilla balanced it out beautifully and bumped it up to a 7.5/10 for me. Simple, comforting, and very British! Overall, Poppies delivered a fun, authentic experience – great service, quick food, and that nostalgic atmosphere. Even as a non-fish eater, I'd happily go back for the pie or to bring someone else for their first proper fish & chips. We recommend it, especially if you're after a classic London chippy vibe without any fuss.
