Tea at Teanamu Chaya Teahouse
London
Feeling stressed? Is the hustle and bustle of every day life getting too much for you? Step foot in the Teanamu Chaya Teahouse and you'll slip into a relaxed and meditative state, with the Zen-like calm of a traditional Asian tea house. Inspired by the authentic Asian tea culture, they supply exotic teas from the Orient and help you to appreciate the slow and tranquil vibe in the midst of such a hurried world.
The teas are served in the traditional gong fu cha tea ritual and to gather fellow tea lovers, they run tea appreciation and tea cookery workshops in the store.
Although a million miles from the traditional British afternoon tea setting, they manage to create their own take on the well loved post lunch treat with style and panache. The Wabi Sabi afternoon tea doesn't break the bank at £18 per person and comes with an array of wakame open sandwiches (garlic and miso-picked cream cheese, yuzu ginger and cheeddar and egg mayonaise with chilli bamboo shoots) as well as pastries and a warm scone with clotted cream and rose petal jam. For those who love Asian cuisine, it's a real treat, and the intricately crafter pieces make it a bit of a culinary show stopper.
So, for the chance to destress, realign your chakra, and while away the afternoon with tasty treats, Teanamu Chaya Teahouse is like an oasis in the midst of busy London.
