With locations in trendy Shoreditch and Soho, Beyond Retro is practically an institution, and will almost certainly pass the lips of any local you ask for pointers to the nearest second-hand clothing store. Strong in terms of selection (men and women’s sections are equally well-stocked), organisation, efficient and friendly customer service and solidly low price points, it makes an excellent and succinct alternative to an afternoon trawling through London’s clothing markets. It is the perfect place to look for an old but good pair of cowboy boots, brogues, sunglasses or a cheap-as-chips vintage dress or jacket. We’ve heard some diehard thrift-trawlers moan about the prices, but let’s get real – you’re not going to find a good T-shirt for a quid unless it’s in your gran’s car boot sale. Beyond Retro offers the convenience and organisation of a high street store with the charm and serendipitous revelation only a vintage store can serve up.
Opening times: Monday-Wednesday: 10:30 - 19:30, Thursday & Friday: 10:30 - 20:30, Saturday: 10:30 - 19:30, Sunday 11:00 - 18:00.
Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus tube for the Soho store. For the Shoreditch store, your best bets are Shoreditch High Street Overground, or you can walk from Liverpool Street tube.
