Home to Tottenham Hotspur FC, one of the Premier League’s five London teams, White Hart Lane has over the years played host to some of the most memorable and exhilarating days and nights of domestic and European football. Established in 1882, ‘Spurs’ – as they are affectionately nicknamed (or alternatively ‘The Lilywhites’) – have been the home for some of the sport’s most exciting players of their generation; from the early days of Jimmy Greaves, Dave McKay and Ossie Ardiles to the more recent careers of David Ginola, Gary Lineker and Paul Gasgcoigne.
Today, Spurs keep to their tradition of playing attractive and entertaining football (sticking by the motto “To Dare is To Do”), ensuring that any chance visitor or member of their global fan-base are treated to a thrilling spectacle. Match day will often see the 36,310 capacity stadium full to the brim, with the enthusiastic home support (and certainly the away fans, too) in full voice. Any game against neighbouring opposition – Fulham, Chelsea, West Ham and their North London rivals Arsenal – is definitely worth the ticket price; which, as it happens, is essential to check before planning any visit.
Pricing can appear complicated but, in its most simple format, the popularity of matches and tickets are divided into the three categories ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’. Rival and European games are usually in ‘A’, whilst matches against lower placed opposition are in ‘C’, making seat availability more likely and cheaper. Prices range from £17 to £81, depending on which stand you choose (some seats may have restricted views). Full information on seating and ticket prices can be found here.
Like most major teams in Europe, Spurs also have an academy team that feature in the “Next Gen Series”, a tournament showcasing the finest young talents in football today. Check the fixture list and tickets for games at WHL and you may get the chance to spot the next Lionel Messi!
