The Arena restaurant was established in 1984 by Jimmy Lagos and his wife Helen, aiming to bring authentic Greek cuisine to Harrow Road, Wembley, Middlesex. With a neighbourly atmosphere, delicious meals and great drinks, the restaurant is very popular among locals and friends.
The menu of the Arena restaurant comprises dishes based on traditional Greek recipes. With fresh and fine ingredients prepared, the meals come in generous portions and at reasonable prices. The à la carte menu includes familiar dishes such as Souvlaki with lamb or chicken (small cubes of tender meat on skewers, charcoal grilled, served with rice) and Dolmadakia (stuffed vine leaves with rice and crushed wheat served with spicy tomato concasse), and also favourites of the owners like vegetarian moussaka and assorted shell fish, pan fried with light oyster and soya sauce served with tagliatelli. Highly recommendable is a typical mocca and Greek yoghurt for dessert. The wine list presents Greek, European and New World wine, including retsina of course, by the bottle.
The atmosphere at the Arena is hospitable and warm. Almost every Sunday the Greek guitarist and vocalist George Michalisles delights the guests with traditional Greek songs. Attracting mostly locals, the restaurant is the meeting point for families living in the neighbourhood, people working in the area and lovers of fantastic Greek food. Arena is open from Monday to Friday from 12:00 - 15:00 hrs and from Monday to Saturday from 18:00 - 23:00 hrs. The restaurant is available for private hire on Sundays.
