BAO Soho
London
レビュー
What can I say? For this price, it might simply be the best food you can get in all of london. We regularly to fly to london for the weekend since to visit friends and decided to give this one a try on our latest visit for lunch. The attention to detail and the amazing craftsmanship of the dishes are spectacular. You only paid about £40 for two for sizeable lunch, something that is becoming unheard of in london, let alone soho! I would recommend getting there early though as we got there 10min before opening and there was already a bit of queue.
What a great food experience with amazing customer service! I got there around noon, right before the lunch rush, so there was no line yet. Lizzy took care of my order and made sure to walk me through the concept, going out of her way to make sure I had a great experience dining there. They have a great lunch set menu at a really good price, but I actually went with the 40-day aged beef bowl with cured egg yolk instead - it was phenomenal, highly recommend! The portion doesn’t look huge, but it definitely fills you up. I also got the Yu Shiang eggs on the side, which were super delicious too. Even my drink, a salted lemon soda, was super refreshing and unique. Overall, my experience at the Soho location was incredible!
I wanted to come here for such a long time. It did not dissapoint. Bao buns and beef bowl were amazing. You might need wait to go in but service is quite fast you are usually in and out within 30-45 mins. Definitely recommend the braised beef bao bun with cured egg yolk.
Great food and service overall. * Crispy Chicken Bao – Soft, fluffy bao with a nice glossy finish and great texture. The chicken tasted good, though the thigh texture wasn’t my favorite. 3/5 * Short Rib Bao – Excellent balance of flavors with pickles, sauce, and tender short rib. Very flavorful and well executed, though it would have been even better served warmer. 4.5/5 * Sweet Potato – Sweet, salty, tangy, and packed with flavor. The tempura batter added a perfect crunch. 5/5 * Mushroom Dumplings – Rich umami flavor and a well-balanced dish. 4/5 * 40-Day Aged Angus Steak – The standout dish of the menu. Deep umami flavor, incredibly tender, and melts in the mouth. 5/5 * Donut Bao – Crispy and sweet, but not really my preference. 3/5 * Shrimp Bao – The standout of the bao menu. The bao had a glossy finish with a light crisp layer, while the filling was rich, tender, and melted in the mouth. Easily a dish worth coming back for on its own. 5/5 * Atmosphere – The space felt quite small and cramped. It would be more comfortable with either a larger venue or fewer guests accommodated at one time.
I had a really lovely experience at this Taiwanese restaurant. It’s not very big, but it has a cosy and intimate atmosphere. Great spot for 1–2 friends, as the space is quite limited, but that’s part of its cosy and intimate charm. The food is beautifully presented and very refined. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but the quality and flavours definitely make it worth it. As someone from Hong Kong, I can say the taste really suits my palate. It was such an enjoyable afternoon, chatting with friends over delicious food. I would happily come back again and try more dishes!
