Dishoom Kensington
London
レビュー
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, you could tell this wasn't just another Indian restaurant. The atmosphere is incredible—warm, energetic, and full of character. The live jazz band was a fantastic touch and gave the entire evening a unique vibe that you don't find very often. The food was outstanding. Every dish was packed with flavor, beautifully prepared, and arrived at the perfect pace. Whether you're a longtime fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, there's something on the menu for everyone. What impressed me most was that our kids loved it just as much as we did. It's not always easy to find a restaurant that appeals to both adults looking for a great dining experience and kids who can sometimes be... a tougher audience. Service was excellent throughout the meal—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever feeling intrusive. London has no shortage of great restaurants, but Dishoom is one of those places that gives you an experience, not just a meal. Between the incredible food, the live music, and the vibrant atmosphere, it's easy to see why people rave about it. Highly recommend. This will be one of our first stops the next time we're back in London.
I might not be a good expert on Indian cuisine. I got my base from Singapore’s Indian cuisine so I expected it to be more than just sour and spicy. I wouldn’t get much explain but the service is excellent. Very attentive waitress. The atmosphere would be a lot better without the construction of drilling holes.
We had a very good experience overall. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and comfortable, with a nice vintage-style interior that gives the place a special character. The service was also good: friendly, efficient, and practical, especially considering we were a group of 8. The food was very tasty overall. We ordered a nice variety of dishes, including grilled masala prawns, Nihari biryani, Chicken Ruby, Goan monkfish curry, lamb samosas, garlic naan, cheese naan, black dal, okra fries, prawn koliwada, chota murg malai, oat chai, basmati rice, mango and fennel lassi, and desserts. Everything felt well prepared and full of flavour. The curries were rich and comforting, the biryani was generous and aromatic, and the naan and rice worked perfectly with the sauces. The black dal was also a highlight, with that deep, slow-cooked flavour Dishoom is known for. The kids menu were excellent and my 2 little girls loved so much the chicken, they ate everything, even as an adult i tried it and liked it as well. Very tasty and natural. Great to see a place where the kids menu feels like a proper dish, a proper meal and not the usual nuggets and chips.. 5 stars to that. The desserts were also enjoyable. The pineapple pepper crumble and coconutty fruit crumble were very good, and the kulfi was a nice refreshing finish and very usual and unique, you either love it or not. The drinks, especially the mango lassi and oat chai, complemented the food very well. Overall, it was a really enjoyable meal with good food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. A great place to go with family or friends when you want tasty Indian food with a bit of character and a lively dining experience.
Ensure to make reservation before arrival to get a table. Even with our reservation we had to wait 15 mins before being seated, they do have a bar area to wait and have a drink. Very well organized and friendly staff. Once seated, greeted by server and order placed for drinks and appetizers. Food and drinks came in reasonable time and as always tasted great. Onto main course, most dishes are shareable, we ordered two entrees (Chicken Patiala, Dishoom House Black Daal) and naan.
We ordered the black daal, roasted corn, charred lamb chops and chicken ruby. Everything was absolutely delicious but my favourite was the lamb chop. The lamb was beautifully cooked and well marinated, the meat was not gamey at all! The chicken ruby was tender and a gentle spice to it. The black daal was indulgent and amazing to have with the naan. The restaurant has such a cozy decor with soothing lighting and service is stellar. Customers can sit at a bar whilst waiting for a table and enjoy drinks (the chai is a must try!!). Definitely recommend visiting this place when in London.
