Of the now eight restaurants we’ve dined at this week, Nopi stands head and shoulders above. We ordered six exquisite shareable dishes- each with impeccable attention to taste, texture, seasoning, complexity, and freshness. Simply wonderful! The service staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the food- eager to share as much information as a diner wants to hear. Set in a coolly renovated space, the serene white tile and plaster punctuated with aged brass fixtures is both bright and airy, classic and aged. See photos for details. Rather than a traditional Mediterranean restaurant, I’d describe it as a well-executed fusion concept. The space is stunning — high ceilings,and a warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the white walls and tiled interior. The menu was just a single page, simple but thoughtfully curated. Every dish we ordered was memorable. The food was genuinely delicious. The pork chop restored my faith in British pork, and the roast chicken was astonishingly succulent and flavourful. A special mention to the service: we told our waiter that we were heading to the theatre afterwards, and he carefully explained the timing of each dish and even reminded us about the bill at exactly the right moment. Thoughtful, attentive service that really enhanced the whole experience. Great food, lovely atmosphere, and genuinely attentive service — exactly the kind of place that makes for a special evening.
Really looked forward to visiting, we decided to get a place at the bar thinking we would face the kitchen, unfortunately we juste faced the espresso machine and mirrors but it was alright. Table seating seemed much better. Waiter was friendly. Food is great but suggested number of items seemed a bit much. Flavors are great but it’s a lot of flavors by the end of the meal. Great cocktails and wine. We had a good time but we weren’t WOWed.
Nopi was truly excellent - interesting and well-cooked dishes, bold and unique flavours, and excellent services. They do sauces incredibly well. They did not have a table when we went but asked if we were ok with communal seating at the basement near the kitchen and pantry - we ended up being the only ones there after the other group finished their meal and left, and it was almost like private dining! The dishes pictured below were absolutely delicious though I think you can give the octopus a miss which took the longest and was the weakest dish. Do give this a try if you’d like a meal to truly surprise you and tickle your senses.
