Amaya Bar and Grill
London
Indian
Michelin Starred
Located at the Halkin Arcade, the Amaya restaurant is a groundbreaking and award-winning Indian restaurant that combines its beautiful location with extremely sophisticated interiors and an exceptional menu, leaving its affluent guests suitably dazzled.
Amaya is unique in that it was the first restaurant to win two prestigious restaurant awards in the same year: the Best New Restaurant, and the Tio Pepe ITV Restaurant of the Year 2005. Amaya was also the first restaurant serving non-European food to win the award, and significantly was the first Indian restaurant to ever be awarded a Michelin star in 2006.
Focal points at Amaya, especially with regards to cuisine, are on sophisticated grilling methods, such as tandoori (stone oven), sigri (coal flame) and tawa (griddle on a searingly hot iron plate). So, with seafood, lamb, poultry and game all coated in a light but powerfully flavourful marinade; a selection of sizzling, succulent kebabs, curries, biryanis; Indian breads and vegetarian dishes. The wine list is very impressive, and the dessert menu is predictably to die for.
