Steakhouses and Grills
Cooking With Experience
Professional chef, Alberto Abbate - having been born and raised in Argentina - has teamed up with a man of similar quality, Diego Jacquet. Together, they're a force to be reckoned with (at least, in the kitchen). They've both owned and opened restaurants both around London and overseas (Jacquet owns restaurants in New York and Spain) and the Connaught Street branch doesn't fall short of their usual high-end results.
Sink Your Teeth into This
All of Casa Malevo's steaks are imported from Argentina where they produce the biggest, heftiest steaks in the world. Indeed, don't be surprised if your plate begins to give way under the weight of a beef fillet, rump, sirloin or rib-eye all within the range of 250g - 300g (and about £20 a pop). Why not stick a couple of fried eggs alongside it as one of the side options? Or a grilled flat mushroom, creamed or sauteed spinach with lemon, or some salad leaves for a lighter side (because sometimes the steaks are served with an overwhelming amount of fat). Other than that, there are other meats available like lamb chops with anchovies, grilled chicken, grilled sea bass or a traditional Argentinian burger.
Sure, the prices are a little steep here, but the quality certainly compensates any holes in the wallet, and that doesn't just apply to the food; the Argentinian Malbecs on offer will accompany all red meats perfectly - however bottles come at around £25+.
