From the minute you walk through the doors you know John Salt is something a bit different. With its exposed brick work and chunky wooden tables where guests dine alongside each other, it's fine dining but with an urban edge. The chefs have thought up some truly imaginative creations that give Heston Blumethall a run for his money, like the bacon panna cotta and pork floss with popcorn. Inspired by Cornish produce, the meat is delivered from Warren & Sons of Cornwall and the fish is direct from Newlyn fish market, but the finished products are given a London makeover.
During the weekend, the restaurant is submerged in style and a youthful vibe with the in-house resident DJs hitting the decks to coincide with their drinks offers. Drinks include locally brewed beers and devilishly fruity cocktails like the Albion Highball, an exotic mix of beefeater gin, chase rhubarb, homemade lemon and orange sherbert, soda and an orange twist. Yum.
