Opera Tavern
London
One of London's prime Spanish restaurants, the Opera Tavern made a name for itself with its elegant decor and relaxed but refined atmosphere, and the Iberico pork burger, which has gone onto become a cult London favourite.
Step through the door and you're greeted by the big sizzling pit grill groaning under the weight of exotic Spanish and Italian meats. Take a seat either upstairs or down and browse their extensive and delectable menu.
One thing we'll mention, recommend, even encourage you to think about is their incredible pork burger. Its actual name is the Mini Iberico Pork and Foie Gras Burger and it comes skewered on a thick wooden platter accompanied by a couple of chunky green chilies. It's small but packs a massive hit of texture and luxuriously porky flavour - understandably, ordering this is a rite of passage for many London foodies.
Elsewhere on the menu there are hams and cheeses to choose from, as well as fish, meat and vegetables from the tapas section. Each tapas option comes in at an average of £6. However, if all this is too much choice, opt for the reasonably-priced £35 or £40 set lunch menu to share which comes with a massive choice of tapas, a choice of dessert and a healthy range of starters to get your chewing gear round.
The Opera Tavern is perfectly suited right in the belly of 'Theatreland' and makes for a great introduction to Spanish cuisine in London. Service is professional and efficient.
