Salvador & Amanda
London
The Salvador and Amanda bar and restaurant boasts an enviable location nestled between Covent Garden and Soho. It is this great spot, combined with its blissed-out bar with its rustic restaurant, this Spanish-themed establishment combines home-style cooking with a club-style atmosphere late on, making it a venue for all occasions, all throughout the day.
Inside, the décor of Salvador and Amanda has plenty of nods to its Spanish roots - the bullfight pictures, the sombreros, the flamenco dresses and the castanets all scream 'real Spain', although you are actually in the heart of London. As can happen, an equation that goes something like Hip new bar + Funky theme + Central London location = magnet for the pretentious crowd, but Salvador and Amanda is refreshingly down-to-earth and informal, as is the norm in Spain. Authenticity wins out here.
Dining at the Salvador and Amanda bar and restaurant is a lovely experience, best enjoyed in large groups of friends, family or, at a push, colleagues; although couples can enjoy a suitable romantic evening here too. Classic tapas is served throughout the day, including albondigas, calamari, patatas bravas, chorizo frito and pepito con cebolla, while larger 'raciones' can be ordered too. On Sundays, the classic Spanish paella is served (minimum two persons), while beautiful Spanish wines and beers flow freely each evening, helping to keep the atmosphere as jovial as possible for as long as possible.
