A London institution and destination for foodies everywhere, St John is a meat-lover’s paradise.

Cuisine is British food to a very high standard; game such as hare and pheasant are knowledgeably prepared and the kitchen has a Michelin star, as well as being regularly featured on San Pellegrino and Restaurant Magazine’s annual “50 Best Restaurants in the World” list.

Lovers of classic British puds will be glad to hear that there are superb renditions of great puddings like bread pudding, Eccles cakes and sherry trifle.

The interior is very plain and stripped down – go here for a buzzy, chatty meal with friends. The main and original restaurant is in Spitalfields, though the restaurant at the St John Hotel off Leicester Square does offer the classics with the benefit of a central location.
