The Empress
London
The Empress is an Indian restaurant located on Leman Street in Tower Hamlets. Often called the best Indian restaurant in the East End, the restaurant was opened in 1993 and has certainly impressed many customers with its traditional dishes, its warm interior and its friendly staff.
Traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes are served in The Empress. Neither artificial colours, nor flavourings are added to the meals which makes the dishes not only tastier but also healthier. The finest natural herbs can be found in dishes like Chicken Makhani, Tandoori King Prawn and Vegetable Curry Mixed vegetable in a gravy based sauce. Delicious Indian desserts such as funky pie ice cream or kulfi perfect the meal. There is also a takeaway menu available for those who wish to dine at home on their couch.
Guests should think twice about that though, since the atmosphere of The Empress is cosy and warm. A huge glass window allows the sun to enter the room and gives it a feeling of lightness and air during the day. In the evening, guests can view the hustle and bustle on the street from the inside whilst enjoying their meals. The staff is polite and friendly and will make sure you are truly enjoying your meal.
The Empress has won various awards including the Docklands Best Indian restaurant award several years in a row. Not surprising really, considering the excellent menu and the amazing atmosphere. Guests almost always become regulars, which is the best recommendation a restaurant can get.
